152 - Valkyrie Ramp Gun Conversion: Part 2

152 - Valkyrie Ramp Gun Conversion: Part 2

I kind of went off track while doing my little tutorial, and instead posted a review about the very nice Tablescapes by Secret Weapon Miniatures. Well, I'm back on track (kind of) and have managed to complete the second part of the review. Read on for more....

151 - Secret Weapon Tablescapes: Rolling Fields

Way back in June 2013, Secret Weapon launched a kickstarter for their Tablescapes - cast tiles to create a gaming board. I backed the kickstarter and it has finally arrived. Please have a look below for the link to my review on Talk Wargaming.

147 - Terminators Have Arrived

147 - Terminators Have Arrived

As well as the Imperial Knight that I alluded to in my previous post, I've also done a little bit of work on my growing Space Marine force. I managed to get a box of Terminators from Hobby Craft when they had them reduced, and then got a little bit more off with my student discount.

146 - Capricorn Chimera Part 3

146 - Capricorn Chimera Part 3

Another week off work and more progress on the unbuilt/part built models. I'm still not allowed to use any paints and I have to wear a mask when using glue as well as having every single window open in the house to get rid of the fumes. Anyway read on for more on the Capricorn Pattern Chimera.

145 - Capricorn Chimera Part 2

145 - Capricorn Chimera Part 2

I dug through my emails (for about 20 seconds) and found more info when I bought the conversion kit. It is named the Capricorn Pattern and was created by machinator from Blood and Skulls Industry. I'm not sure if it's still available, but the only way to find out would be to ask him.

144 - Chimera Conversion Time

144 - Chimera Conversion Time

I'm alive still - just suffering with lack of time through work etc. But I have still had a bit of hobby time. I bought myself a couple of Chimera conversion kits a while back and decided that if I didn't have the motivation for painting stuff I could at least build the tanks that are still boxed.

142 - Alternative Hydra Turrets

So GW have released the new Hydra/Wyvern double kit. It look's quite nice, you can easily make both kits and it fits well with the rest of the range, albeit with that curved gun shield looking a little out of place when compared to some of the blockier tanks. However, I have one big problem with the kit - why on earth is the turret open topped!?

141 - Did Someone Say Apocalypse?

141 - Did Someone Say Apocalypse?

A weekend of typical English weather (rain followed by sun, followed by rain, followed by sun etc etc) couldn't put a dampener on an Apocalypse battle that I'd been involved in.

The original plan was for a battle between Tau and Orks against the forces of the Imperium - Space Marines and Guard. Instead it ended up being Space Marines versus an allegiance of Orks and Guard - including Commissar Yarrick and Ghazghkull Thraka on the same side.

140 - Cadian Production Line Part 1

140 - Cadian Production Line Part 1

I am a slow painter. And when I slow, I mean glacial. I'm pretty sure by the time I've finished painting a squad a new layer of sedimentary rock will have formed. Nevertheless, I continue with what my wife surely sees as some sort of penance for sins committed in a previous life as I hunch over my desk. Anyway, I've been inspired by Ady over at Praetorian XXIV (who has just done an 11 part series of posts) to try and get some of the infantry sitting on my desk finished. Read on for more babbling.

139 - Mega Bastion Part 4: Dazzle Camo (Kind Of)

139 - Mega Bastion Part 4: Dazzle Camo (Kind Of)

At the end of the last post I left you somewhat hanging on for more pictures of the Bastion. I ended up having to go and buy more paint, just to be sure, as I was running a bit low on all three colours. Carry on reading for a look at what happened next.

138 - Mega Bastion Part 3: Now With Added Paint

138 - Mega Bastion Part 3: Now With Added Paint

There has been one project that has been staring back at me, languishing at the top of my display cabinet, that I chose to add to over the past couple of weeks. I grabbed the Mega Bastion off the shelf, gave it a quick dust down and grabbed some paint. This was also going to be a chance for to try out another of the stencil designs from Anarchy Models. Read on to see what I've been up to.

137 - Anarchy Models Stencils Review - Digi Camo

137 - Anarchy Models Stencils Review - Digi Camo

This is going to be a review of the new stencils that Anarchy Models brought out through their Kickstarter. I've only had a chance to use one design but I have got plans for the other stencil designs. I tried them out on the Nova-Rus Bear from Antenocitis Workshop, so read on for my view on the Digi Camo (No 2) stencils.

136 - Antenocitis Workshop Review on Talk Wargaming

136 - Antenocitis Workshop Review on Talk Wargaming

As part of the blog redesign, I've been doing a couple of articles for Talk Wargaming. The first of these was a reworded and shortened version of my Shadowsword magnetisation tutorial, which can be found here (and here is the link to the originals).

135 - The Magnetised Manticore (/Deathstrike) - S92 "Nubis" (Cloud)

135 - The Magnetised Manticore (/Deathstrike) - S92 "Nubis" (Cloud)

I'm not sure what's been going on, but I've managed to get several models finished within a few weeks of each other. This is good news as it means that unfinished models are no longer just gathering dust, they are finished (and gathering dust)!

And that dust gathering finished model is my other Manticore. It is the magnetised Manticore as detailed in post 133. And as you can probably guess from the title, this is a special tank.

134 - A Battle Report (kind of)

134 - A Battle Report (kind of)

I managed to get in a game of 5th Edition a few weeks ago. This was at a mates, and against him and another pal. The game was just a 3 way kill everything game. The point limit was 1500pts.

I took about 3000pts worth of my Imperial Guard, so I was able to choose a relatively diverse force. The other armies were Black Templars, led by Shaun, and Orks, led by Neil. We weren't being particularly strict when it came to the FOC, and just tried to pick units that looked like they might be able to kill each other.

133 - Magnets + Manticore = Fun Times

133 - Magnets + Manticore = Fun Times

So as well as the eBay rescued Manticore, I also had a brand new one which I've been working on for way too long. There is a reason for this though, and it involves my old friend - magnets!

I've already tried my hand at magnetising a Valkyrie and Shadowsword. Both of which were fairly successful. Next up, was to try my magnetic skills on a Manticore, so that it could be fielded as either a Manticore or a Deathstrike. So read on for my little explanation.

132 - Manticore Finished! S18 "Grisius" (Grey)

Well one of the Manticores is finished! And it wasn't the one that I'd started on ages ago. I've actually finished off the one from eBay. It's amazing how long it takes me to complete things sometimes - maybe my New Year's resolution should be to try to finish projects quicker? No chance!

131 - The Joy of Painting White

131 - The Joy of Painting White

Two weeks into the New Year and I feel like it's time to post something. First of all I hope that everyone had a good Christmas and New Year.

I was hoping to be able to post at least one of the finished Manticores, but I've just not had the enthusiasm to paint a lot. I have managed to get some painting done, and here is a little picture update.
