Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well and surviving covid and lock down.
Work commitments have meant I've not had huge amounts of time to get any hobby done. Admin support for the NHS has meant a lot of extra and different work.
I have managed to sneak some hobby time in and have been making progress on the Praetor Armoured Assault Launcher.
I think I need a bigger washing up bowl!Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-61081996027760968582020-05-11T11:07:00.002+01:002020-05-11T11:07:56.268+01:00224 - Railway Project - Part 14
Hi everyone, thank you for popping by for the latest update. I hope everyone is well and managing through the lockdown.
Let's jump straight into this one:
Disaster has struck across the layout! Either that or someone has been using rolling stock to hold some fences up while they are glued in place. Yeah, they we're being used to hold the fences up.
Oh no, another disaster! Oh, wait.Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-2935963307978461132020-04-25T12:30:00.002+01:002020-04-25T12:30:34.119+01:00223 - Railway Project - Part 13
Hi all. Thank you for dropping in. I hope that everyone is safe and well with the ongoing Covid-19 situation and that people are coping as best they can.
With the lock down here in the UK, I've haven't been going to my brother-in-law's house to do anymore to the layout. He is still working on it but progress is slow.
So this update is where we got up to about 6 weeks ago when I was last Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-28936180508182773342020-03-25T14:54:00.002+00:002020-03-25T14:54:44.873+00:00222 - Railway Project - Part 12
Hello everyone. I hope you are all keeping well with the current goings on in the world. Maybe I'll get around to painting some models....or not!
Anyway, my brother-in-law and I did mange to get a little bit more done to the layout before everything decided to go completely mad.
Now that we've got a lot of the groundworks etc done, we started thinking about little details. So first of Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-30833056448134297432020-02-26T15:24:00.001+00:002020-02-26T15:24:06.716+00:00221 - Railway Project - Part 11
Hello and thanks for visiting for Part 11 (!!) of the railway project.
Last time we got some ballast down, now it's time to start building on that detail.
Now it was time to start getting some flock and grass down. This is all from Woodland's Scenics, unfortunately I haven't got the specific code for which one's we used. The sidings and left side incline got a nice covering.
As did Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-49672916662597815672020-02-11T13:03:00.001+00:002020-02-11T13:03:15.636+00:00220 - Railway Project - Part 10
Hi everyone! Thank you for dropping in for Part 10 of this railway project. Still no name for the layout- I blame my brother in law!
Today's update will be about ballasting! Exciting isn't it?
We actually decided to do a test of our ballasting on a small section of track before diving into the whole thing. The process we used is one that's tried and tested by railway modelers:

Hi all, thank you for taking a look at Part 9 of the railway project.
I think that now we are on part 9, I can't keep listing the previous parts so you will have to look through the archive at the bottom of the page if you haven't seen them before, sorry.
In the last update, we had laid down a load of fine fill to create roads and texture and generally make the layout look like more than Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-41432443583239001722019-12-23T13:44:00.000+00:002019-12-23T13:44:27.184+00:00218 - Railway Project - Part 8
Hi, it's time for part 8 and I think it's about time my brother-in-law and I came up with a name for the layout, I can't keep calling it "The Layout".

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to stop by. Todays update is part 5 in the railway project. Please find the other parts here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4.
With the majority of the scenery done, it's about time we got some track ready. We are using Peco flexi track for everything but the points. All of the joints will be soldered, as you can see above.

Continuing on with the railway project today. If this is your first time taking the time to check out the project, here are links to Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.
The first thing that we cracked on with was making the hill look a little less like a pile of polystyrene. Simple DIY filler was used to smooth out the hillside.

Hi all. Today's post is continuing on with the OO gauge model railway layout in my brother-in-law's garage. If you need to catch up on what's been done before, here's Part 1 and Part 2.
This update will be on making progress on the two incline sections and making them a little less plain.
First thing was to get the curved sections glued so they would hold their shape. Hi everyone and thanks for taking time to read and view this update.
Another update for my brother-in-law's OO gauge railway layout, and this one focuses a bit more on the structures that we've been getting ready.
First up is the viaduct in it's finished form. The right end will be going into a hill and the left end will have a retaining wall continuing on. The viaduct is double width Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-53182266697694529162019-07-08T14:17:00.001+01:002019-07-08T14:21:21.112+01:00210 - Railway Project - Part 1
Hi all. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Whilst my own projects slow down and mount up, I've been involved in assisting my brother-in-law with his own instead. And his project is a OO gauge model railway.
And here is where we began. The original plan was for a 8ft x 6ft layout. The framework was attached to the walls. However, we decided to add another foot and make it 8x7. Hi and thanks for dropping in.
Project Commissar is not happy.
Every now and then I see people posting updates on their
blogs with their project progress displayed in table form or as a list with
certain tasks marked off.
Well I’ve been keeping a similar sort of table for quite
a while and figured as I’ve been quiet on the blog that I would share my
progress table.

Hi everyone! Thanks for swinging by.
Today's post is about some additional kits that I will be adding to the train layout.
The kits are card ones made by Metcalfe.
The first is PO313, a double track engine shed. I worked out that clothes pegs were an extremely useful tool for holding the kit together.
This will be the second of these sheds to go on the layout which will add some Cadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-25520843695299513002019-03-01T10:08:00.003+00:002019-03-01T10:08:59.698+00:00207 - Rail Gun
Hi all. A very quick post today. It seems like my dad is getting in on the fun of some heavy artillery.
He's got himself this little addition for the railway:
It is an Oxford Rail Rail Gun "Gladiator". Not entirely sure how it's going to fit in with the rest of the layout.
Stay tuned for a pic of this being dragged around by a suitable locomotive.

Hi all and thanks for taking the time out to drop by.
This post is more of a question to everyone that drops by - what and who got you in to the hobby? And what's your favourite part of it?
I've previously mentioned that I was introduced to the world of models by my dad, with Airfix kits and his OO gauge train collection. However, it was one of my friends at secondary school that opened myCadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-37001492781474109062018-12-19T21:06:00.002+00:002018-12-19T21:06:34.917+00:00205 - Winter Slow Down
Hi all and thanks for dropping in.
Hobby things have been very slow for me for the past few months which is why there are no updates.
I'm trying to get my spray booth and compressor set up in the garage so that's taking a bit of time to run some rectangular ducting out of the old tumble dryer vent. Here's hoping that will be done soon.
Thanks again for keeping up with these random postsCadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-4780713391667619172018-10-31T20:28:00.000+00:002018-10-31T20:28:08.013+00:00204 - Bombard Built
Hello all and thanks for dropping by on this Halloween!
Nothing too spooky going on here, continuing to build some of the many kits I've had in need of some attention.
This ForgeWorld Bombard has been sat nearly completed for quite a while.
The Bombard has a very neat shell loading crane on the back which lends itself nicely to being magnetised. So a little magnet was added toCadian 127thhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5364242270501795113.post-67214808808833857492018-07-25T20:35:00.001+01:002018-07-25T20:35:29.513+01:00203 - Picking Up the Paint
Hello all and thanks for dropping in. In a previous post I talked about how my paints were a little less painty. Thank you for the responses on how to try and save them. Some have been saved, others have not. That of course means that I need to go shopping.
Well I've been, and this is what I bought:

Greetings all, and thanks for stopping by.
Just a quick one today to show off some new eBay purchases. I'm sure I'm not the only person who trawls eBay watching and waiting for something specific that's no longer available.
Well I got lucky the past month and picked up some ForgeWorld bits that are tricky to get hold of. So here's what I bought:
