161 - These Legs Are Made For Stomping

Progress continues on the Knight. Not much progress, but nevertheless I continue battling on. Read on for more.
The past week or two I've managed a bit of work on the Knight. It was my first attempt at mixing paints - for the past 10+ years I've always used paints straight from the pot, and have never tried making my own colours. Well, I gave it a go with the purple for the Knight. I wanted a brighter purple to radiate out from the middle, and hopefully you can see that in the picture below.

As well as the lighter purple, I also based all of the legs in GW Leadbelcher before a heavy wash of GW Badab Black. Once this had dried, it got a nice heavy drybrush of GW Mithril Silver. I want quite a bright look to the metal areas so they stand out when all those armour plates are in place.

The trim edging is also GW Leadbelcher. The 4 armour plates in the bottom of the picture have had the lighter purple applied. Unfortunately, there are some tide marks on the centre plates, but nothing too damaging - and not bad for a first attempt. There are more armour plates with the light purple, but I'm still working on them.

I've not just been working on the legs. The torso also got the GW Leadbelcher treatment. Again this wash washed with GW Badab Black and then a drybrush of GW Mithril Silver. The eyes will be painted up but I haven't decide what colour yet, possibly green.

Thanks for reading. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Looks good at this stage! One tip I would have to heartily recommend.

make sure you record exactly how you mixed the paint in a notebook, computer file, something. Just make sure you have the mixture down somewhere. One day you'll want to match it again, and having that information will make you SO happy.

@ Greg - cheers for the comment. Fortunately, I have made a note of the paint mix. It's 1 drop Vallejo Grey Primer and 3 drops Vallejo Hexed Lichen. So a 1:3 mix. It took a little experimenting though.
