Infantry Camo Scheme - two choices

Ok so whilst painting up the latest infantry squad to be added to my army, I thought I'd try something different. My usual paint scheme for the models is Snakebite Leather clothing and Goblin Green for the armour, with Graveyard Earth camo pattern added to the armour. This can be seen in the picture below, which will be named scheme A.

The something different scheme, which will be scheme B, is only very slightly different to A. All I've done is add a small line or blotch of Bleached Bone to the existing Graveyard Earth camo. Scheme B can be seen below.

So far I think that I prefer scheme B, but I've already got 4 squads painted up in scheme A, 2 squads with grenade launchers and 2 with flamers. I've got a couple of ideas of what I want to do but would like some of your thoughts on it.

My first idea is to continue painting my squads in scheme A and use B for my veteran's and Stormtroopers.

My second idea is to paint any squads in the future using B.

Third idea is to add the Bleached Bone camo onto the models with the special weapon and move the squads around. So basically I'll have 4 squads in scheme A, all with the same special weapon and then the rest of the squads in scheme B. This one is a bit more complicated and I'm not sure if I've explained it properly.

I did consider addding the Bleached Bone camo onto the original squads, but I think this may be more trouble than it's worht. Please let me know what you think about these ideas. Cheers.

I like scheme B, but then again I'm not the one painting it ;)

I think you have the right idea using B for squads with special meaning, like veterans or HQ. If you use conscripts, you could use the A version for those as well.

My squads tend to get mixed together, so a standard scheme is important when I paint. If you don't have issues like that, I'd just leave what you have and designate them as different platoons or something like that.

You have to trim your mold lines. It's a bit time consuming, but totaly worth it.

I'd go scheme 2, but use a darker green, it's too bright.

I like B, and I'd be inclined to use it for special troops such as the Vets or Stormtroopers. It's just that little bit extra to distinguish them from the standard Guardsmen.

Thanks for the response guys. Overall it seems that I'll be using be for Vets etc., something to set them apart.

@ Kevin - I'm surprised at how easy it was to add the extra line, especially as the brown camo was just blobbed on randomly.

@ oni - yeah the mold lines are quite bad, these are some of the first models I built for my army and I was a bit lazy at the time. Hopefully the new additions won't be as bad. Once I've added a Devlan Mud wash the green should dull down a bit.

@ Soundwave - B appears to be the winner for the Vets/Stormtroopers, and now to just get around to painting the metal boxset of Kasrkin.

Cheers for the comments and suggestions everyone.

Looking good so far. My choice is pattern B. As far my 2 cents worth, remember that camo is meant to break up a plain surface with irregular patterns. The small lighter flecks on the brown patches really achieves this effect well.

I don't think that having a mixed color schemed in a campaigning IG army is too taboo.

So go with both. :) Though I like 'B' a touch better, but that just me.

I like what you are doing!

I echo the sentiment, scheme B.

I'd also echo the comment about mold lines.

and as a final reccomendation, hit em with some devlan mud ;)
